Poetry || SubmissionsOlutayo K. OsunsanIn my lifeIn my life I have seen days that made me cry,I have wished my eyes were blank in darkness And tears have mapped my face with tributaries. Friends have woven into the gossiping clan, Family members have orchestrated my downfall, I have wished myself to be unborn to this life. My smiles have been faked hundreds of times, I have lied it with dust in my eyes when I cry And people have judged me by where I came from. The sun remembers my innocent complexion before I sold fruits and belonging on the streets of my young life And I have seen my parents learn to hate their love. Poverty has erased the memories of my happiness; Barefooted to school, kicked out of class for no fees; I have cried under trees in my patched shorts, hopeless. In my life, I have found a love that selflessly died, Killed me and came back to life with me in His arms And still destiny tells me there are still miles to go. Miles to go before I rest. Miles to go before I wake. Olutayo K. Osunsan was born in Lagos, Nigeria. He is a Christian and currently studying International Business in Kampala, Uganda.
