Poetry || SubmissionsPoems by Lorena Lowell Castricone A Tiger TaleHis eyes possess the radiance of emerald green Portraying a manner so docile and serene His coat is painted sunset orange with ribbons of black Stretching around his belly and traveling atop his back His face is fierceness with a mouth full of ominous sabers Designed resistance for warding off uninvited neighbors His predator instincts perpetuate him with an insatiable hunger In the constant struggle for survival he is a ruthless hunter His roar composes the concert thundering throughout the wooded jungle Keeping all those who fear him feeling relentlessly vulnerable His motion is artful with flawless rhythm flowing unpretentiously Prominently prowling and pacing while designating his territory His paws are ferocious with razor sharp claws; the complementary weapons Suitable for marauding expeditions in the banquet of forest provisions His tail is a resourceful asset for when there is nothing to do While lounging in the shade it provides an object to swat and chew Cloaked in the chaotic garden preparing for the inevitable stalk Sizing up his potential victim he approaches with his cunning walk He leaps through the air and pounces on his unsuspecting prey In the day and the life of a tiger this just a pristine day. The Jester We deem life, confident we are invincible The common society with an overaggressive ego. Arriving at the familiar weekend revelry; leaving the keys to your flying machine with the host of festivities Departing laden with firewater potions and the rigid formula "I am okay to fly" Or the snow beast with a blizzard nipping at our rational sense Spreading illusory wings flying as high as our game pride pilots us Crashing down in denial either dead or with refined invulnerability We are fearless venturing without provocation aside from narcissistic glory Yielding only when the curtains close on one of our own reckless players who has betrayed the essence of our core A short lived sorrow notably; the inroads of time soothe Replenishing our need for the next thrill seeking joyride We are gluttons for adrenaline consumed with challenges We are not superman yet we dare to defy We are not odds makers still we chance to prevail We are, The Jester; Performing in the palace of our imagination for an audience of one, else a personal ovation. The Day Star The rising daystar ignites the horizon setting a fire upon a new day Created ideally in the midst of the sky its blazing design hosts flawless symmetry arousing every breath of life Winter, spring, summer and fall seasonally displayed its unbiased expression shining on each and every facade Shimmering rays engage harmony and exhilaration throughout the essence of the soul As, Gentle radiance, bestows savoring warmth caressing the skin with a courteous inferno Flickering gleams of light passing through rain showers reveal a captivating mural of colors The dazzling sphere of fire with its lunar companion accomplishes its mastery in the rise and fall of the ocean And, At dusk the incandescence flame performs a fiery finale enlightening the senses As Brilliant highlights of ravishing reds and pristine pinks encircle the clouds concluding it's prominence in preparing the alighting of the moon.
