Poetry || SubmissionsStrange Gift I know a lady who can predict weatherwith her uterus. The birth of her son tore muscle ligament and flesh from her body. Left her with scar tissue, adhesions inside. If rain is coming she aches through groin and back. Says she can hardly walk. She fairs better with cloudy weather, hurts only in her groin. Snow and sleet leave her stove-up. Sunny days, her best, she walks upright, normally. Strange gift , Predicting the weather. Your Memory is a Knife razor sharp in places, painfully dull in others. You slashed away parts of me with your punch, and slap. My face black and purple, swollen like a melon, you cut. You sliced away more as you hung from the attic, a note pinned, blaming me. As your memory carves and pares away parts of me, I sometimes wonder if there will be anything left. Honeysuckle Wine Red sunrise melds into lavender cirrus. Dawn's fresh fire melts nights dew, Burning to coral, gold cumuli fade to bright blue. Darkness penetrated with light streams, opens eyes. Honeysuckle breeze dances as bob-white takes to flight. The wind from their wings wisps my hair, stops your steps. Bending you pluck white and gold blossoms. We pull stamens through petalled throats, taste honeyed drops. Eyes to eyes, knowing unspoken whispers, mirrored thoughts, your hand circles my waist. Soft lips press to mine, their warm dew, tastes of honeysuckle wine.
