Poetry || SubmissionsBy Hagy AverbachBack from Jerusalem * Frost wraps the bus cold blanket she marked the window before falling asleep "Dafna" bleeding water white fist tightens frost covers. don't paint a mural and nature will never touch your signature. * Bus and raven gliding side by side Raven perched on air frozen in my window * I didn't find the book she wanted and I didn't find chestnuts and I didn't visit the wailing wall so I'm bringing nothing back from Jerusalem. ------ WHEN IN PAIN My sister was so quiet seeing on TV how they gathered with candles gathered in the night young faces unmoving moved her for being expressionless. The inner, Americanized grief. And how her smile faintly ridiculed a Jordanian woman who held his picture and screamed at heaven or the cameras Our father Our saviour Our dearest. The hell with silent pain boiling on candlelight! the hell with quiet funerals! Hit your breast and rend your hair Shout your grief like wounded infants Cry! Cry! When in pain we are all children. ------- * This pen is at rest. Death-white sheets Black blood drying all over these five smooth tracks. Take it to the publisher. Every train may pass here now. Seductively women leaning on pianos would make life beat faster Orgasms at night for the evening music. This pen could make love. This pen is at rest. My name is Hagy Averbuch. I live in israel, and I write in Hebrew and English. You can write to Hagy c/o hagayavb@netvision.net.il Previous poems by Hagy at Ariga Today's Situation
