Phyllis Glazer

is widely considered the leading authority on natural foods in Israel. An American-born food writer and culinary consultant, Phyllis works with Israel's major food industries in the development of new products, endorsements of specially designed products, and recipe development for existing products.

She moved to Israel in 1977 at the age of 24 and published her first book A Vegetarian Feast in Hebrew in 1981. A bestseller now in its 14th printing, the book was the first vegetarian cook book in Israel.

Her second book, Foods of the Bible, now online at Ariga, was published in Germany by Haenssler and in Italian by Piemme Press.

She recently completed her third cookbook From Phyllis' Kitchen to be published in Hebrew by Keter in Israel.

In July 1995, Ms. Glazer founded the Israeli-Jordanian Culinary Exchange Project and produced the first Israeli event in Amman, Jordan under the auspices of Mrs. Daniela Shamir, wife of Israeli's first ambassador to Jordan, Prof. Shimon Shamir.

She has edited food magazines and held several regular columns in such publications as The Jerusalem Post, Ma ariv and several other Hebrew publications. Her articles on Israeli food have appeared in the Boston Globe and the New York Post.

Ms. Glazer has taught classes and conducted cooking demonstrations at the New School s Culinary Arts Program in New York City, and at Peter Kump s French Cooking School, as well as other culinary arts centers.

She is a regular guest on many of Israel s leading television and radio programs. A graduate of Brandeis University, she is a recipient of the American-Israel Cultural Foundation Award. She lives in Tel Aviv with her two daughters., and can be reached through phyllisg@netvision.net.il
