Travels through Life by Millie Jackson
HELEN
You have been this special person that's always been there for me no matter what. You always cared about my feelings and wanted what's best for me. You will never know what that meant to me. Even though I know at times you yourself had more problems than you knew how to handle, I can only hope that I have been the kind of friend you've been to me.
Through the years you have been there for me, always encouraged me to hang in there, that it would get better. Even though you yourself were in a wheelchair, I've never known you to complain. It makes me rejoice that I'm blessed to have a friend like you.
Even from a wheelchair you have touched so many people's lives. That you're always there for people, helping them carry their load. Jesus Christ was the same even though he knew that he himself had a load to carry. That he was going to be betrayed and tormented. He still helped others. I have saw you help others when it was hard for you to do for yourself. But your faith was strong and in your heart you knew what was important in this world. You would tell me that helping others helped you keep going, that we would always find someone worse off than we are. I see you had on your life from a wheelchair and make it look so easy. I know it's not. But you've never complained. That's not your way.
You told me that maybe you had to be put flat on your back to learn what's really important in life. Faith, loving your neighbor as yourself, helping others. We are here only for a short time. When as a person said in a hundred years from now it won't matter how big a house we live in or what type of car we drive, or how big a bank account we have. But it will matter if we touch a life and make it better.
You have done so much to make this world a better place and the people in it. God has blessed you with people who loves you and they know they are better people for knowing you. If everybody lived their life as I see you living yours the world would be a beautiful place to live. I look at you sometimes and think what in God's name am I complaining about? This woman's in a wheelchair, what do you have to complain about? She has raised her children and run a business from that wheelchair. She has showed me that courage, faith, and love can move mountains. Thank you for being my friend [] ... showing what you can do with your life. If you have the faith and courage, that no matter what life hands us, it's up to us, if we turn it into roses. I love you.
