OPEN HOUSE is a home in Ramle, Israel, that was owned by a Palestinian family before 1948. It is now occupied by Dalia and Yehezkel Landau. This exceptional couple has devoted it (1) to provide educational and social opportunities to Arab children and their families, and (2) to be a center where Jews and Palestinians can meet one another, have joint activities, and forge friendships.

While relationships across the Green Line are mostly severed for now, Israeli Palestinians and Jews are demonstrating, with great difficulty and courage, how human bonds can -- with listening, and simply "being there for each other" -- help us heal together.

May Allah, God, grace, human initiative and reaching out -- whatever it is for you -- give us one more chance to do it right, and especially between citizens of Israel and Palestine.

Today's Situation

"The army that will defeat terrorism doesn't wear uniforms, or drive Humvees, or calls in air-strikes. It doesn't have a high command, or high security, or a high budget. The army that can defeat terrorism does battle quietly, clearing minefields and vaccinating children. It undermines military dictatorships and military lobbyists. It subverts sweatshops and special interests.Where people feel powerless, it helps them organize for change, and where people are powerful, it reminds them of their responsibility." ~~~~ Author Unknown ~~~~
