About Ariga

Ariga sounds Italian. It's not. Nor is it Greek, Phoenician or Turkish. It is a Hebrew word meaning weave, in other words, what we all try to do on the web.

Ariga was opened to the public in mid 1995 as an experimental web-publishing platform, the first web-based source of news from Israel, emphasizing the peace process, but also including poetry, painting and other subjects of interest to its sole-owner, operator, publisher and editor -- Robert Rosenberg.

The site is divided into two main sections -- Peace and Pleasure.

Peace includes The Situation, a Monday-Friday report on Israel written daily by Rosenberg, as well as other analysis and commentary by Ariga contributors. Peace also includes resources such as the comprehensive listing of the human rights and peace groups operating in Isral and Palestine, and a complete collection of significant treaties and historic documents relating to the peace process. The Pleasure section consists mostly of a poetry 'zine, but also includes various other 'pleasures' including a Yiddish glossary, a Bible food cookbook, an art gallery, and short stories and articles. Ariga archives are located here. Silvia Rosenberg's paintings are on display here.
