Kahane Free With Restrictions 04 October 1998 - Tapuach - Rabbi Benyamin Ze'ev Kahane was released today from prison after serving six months of a nine month sentence for "distracting a police officer" over 4 years ago by stepping out the back door of his house in order to avoid a policeman who came to serve him with a summons. Kahane who directs the Yeshiva of the Jewish Idea in Kfar Tapoach, is harassed regularly by the police and Shabak because of his strong criticism of the government policy, was the first person in the history of the state of Israel to be sent to prison for "distracting a police officer". On his release Kahane said that the "government's legal 'Terrorism' will not break his sprit and he will go on spreading the words of Truth at all cost."
