Oct 6 1998Forboding News -- Kahane's kid is released from jail. Forwarded from Kfar Tapuach, Israel.

Kahane Free With Restrictions

04 October 1998 - Tapuach -

Rabbi Benyamin Ze'ev Kahane was released today from prison after serving six months of a nine month sentence for "distracting a police officer" over 4 years ago by stepping out the back door of his house in order to avoid a policeman who came to serve him with a summons.

Kahane who directs the Yeshiva of the Jewish Idea in Kfar Tapoach, is harassed regularly by the police and Shabak because of his strong criticism of the government policy, was the first person in the history of the state of Israel to be sent to prison for "distracting a police officer". On his release Kahane said that the "government's legal 'Terrorism' will not break his sprit and he will go on spreading the words of Truth at all cost." Rabbi Kahane's writings and information about his Yeshiva can be seen at http://www.kahane.org/

Kahane said that although he is an "Asir BeRishayon" - a prisoner with restrictions, he will attempt to get the necessary permission to attend the planned memorial for his late father, Rabbi Meir Kahane, which is being held Sunday Nov. 15, 1998, 3:00 PM, At the Ocean Ave Jewish Center, between Ave. U and V, on Ocean Ave. in Brooklyn.

For reservations and for more information please visit the Kahane homepage http://www.kahane.org/ or call (718) 670 3771

(Baruch Marzel, former leader of Kach has also been invited, if Binyamin Kahane and Marzel are present, it would mark the first time the two leaders are present together at an event in NY - This is an event that you don't want to miss - last year, hundreds were turned away due to lack of space in the hall - The synagogue where it is being held this year holds 600 people - To guarantee your seat, make your reservation now - Admission is FREE).

(Other Key note speakers will include Rabbi David Hollander, Rabbi Shaul Kassen, Rabbi Yitzhak Goodman and Yekutiel Guzofsky).
