July 2005
For health reasons, my daily report from Israel was temporarily suspended during half of June and all of July 2005. Just my luck I needed major surgery while the disengagement got underway. But in mid-July, the state's refusal to give into Gush Emunim's demands inspired me to write 'Last Hurrahs?' on how, since 1967 the religious-nationalist movement stole billions of dollars from the state of Israel, thousands of hectares of land from the Palestinians, and most tragically, stole Judaism and Zionism from the Jews.
