August 18 2000 The following ad will appear next Monday in the Israeli papers (in Hebrew) Please send your name, profession, city of residence, telephone, email - by 10:00 pm Saturday night NY time at the latest - to raznona@aol.com if you want to sign.

To: The Hon. Prime Minister Ehud Barak and The Hon. Palestine Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat:

At Camp David you began a difficult and brave journey.
At Camp David you were closer than ever.
At Camp David you began a journey that promises a future of peace and prosperity for the entire region.
We call upon you:
COMPLETE THE JOURNEY AND BRING PEACE TO BOTH NATIONS!
This is the time to go the extra few steps towards the goal. This is the time to cash in on the goodwill of the US administration and its commitment to peace. This is a time to bring economic prosperity, well-being and tranquility to the people in the region.
We are liable to miss the peace train - which would be a crying shame for generations.
For the sake of our children and the future generations -
C O M P L E T E
T H E
T A S K!

August 17 2000 Stop the house demolitions! Israel must immediately cease all house demolitions of Palestinian -- and no claim of "it was all done legally" will work if Israel insists that nobody do anything unilaterally while there are negotiations underway. To find out how the Jerusalem municipality under Ehud Olmert is deliberately seeking provocations with Palestinians, by destroying houses in Ras Amud -- and then lying to the government, let alone human rightgs groups, click here

August 11 2000 NEW PRESIDENT, OLD POLITICIAN:
When Moshe Katzav was elected President by the votes of the nationalist-religious-orthodox bloc, under the auspices of Rabbi Ovadia Josef, he promised to "put his opinions in a pigeon-hole", abstain from politics and devote himself solely to the "unity of the nation".
It took less than a week for his real face to be revealed.
He attacked the prime minister and the government, as well as "half of the people", declaring that it was inconceivable to remove the handful of settlers from Hebron as part of a peace agreement.
Moshe Katzav has been and has remained an ally of the extreme settlers. It is clear that there will never be any peace in this country if the bunch of provocateurs will go on living in Hebron, harassing the population and creating daily riots. Their declared aim is get the Arabs out of the town and out of the country.
So much for the presidential promise. The Gush Shalom Message for the week

August 8 2000 The Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions (ICAHD) reports on the Continuing Trial of Abu Faiz This is a very important report because it is a microcosm of one aspect of the situation on the ground right now. Check it out.

Len Lebby Traubman, untiring believers and doers in the cause of people to people peace activities: sent in:
Naftali Kaminski, M.D., Israeli pulmonary physician, writes his first e-mail after returning home with his wife and daughters from a 3-year reseach fellowhsip in lung biology at the University of California Medical Center. There he helped birth and sustain the successful Alliance of Middle Eastern Scientists and Physicians
Back in Israel, his call from Israel for expanded face-to-face Palestinian-Israeli contact and dialogue, in the Middle East and overseas, to more accurately know each others' minds and hearts, and thus be better able to plan and build a common future, is short and to the point

Another call comes from Naftali Raz, in New York
